Warrent Officier Kenneth Leslie Owen Blow DFC was born in January 1921 in St. Albans, England and joined the RAFVR about June 1939 as an Airman u/t Observer. He was called to full-time service on 1st September 1939.

With his training completed he joined 235 Squadron at Bircham Newton from 4 B&GS West Freugh on 26th March 1940 and served with it throughout the Battle of Britain.

On 19th November 1940 Blow was posted with his flight to RAF Aldergrove, where it combined with a flight from 236 Squadron to reform 272 Squadron. He flew his first operational sortie with 272 on the 24th.

W.O. Kenneth had flown a number of sorties with his pilot Flt. Sgt. Thomas Mair.

Tragedy struck on 10 December 1943 on a mission to "sweep " targets north-west of the German town of Nordhorn.

On their return Mair attempted to force land his aircraft in a field between the villages of Vroomshoop and Den Ham after it had been hit by flak.

Both crew were thrown clear ofthe aircraft which later exploded into flames.  Local farmers and villagers who first attended the scene said that one crew member had already died, while the other managed to say a few words before dying.

What was said is not known because the farmers or villagers did not understand English.

Flt. Sgt. Thomas Mair was 24.  W.O. Blow was 22. Both airmen are buried in the old cemetery in Den Ham.
