Les Knight's sacrifice not only saved the village of Den Ham from disaster but gave the crew the opprtunity to for them all to survive the war. Two members were captured almost immediately but the other five were back in England only months later, thanks to the help of the local Resistance Groups, and local families who took immense risks to save the lives of these men.
